Fuel up at Caltex to Help Davao City’s Senior Public High Schools

Students and teachers from Marahan National High School in Davao City wish to graduate from the old school ways to digital learning. Their FYS wish list includes a television, multimedia projectors, and scientific calculators. Help this school and 29 others get their wish by voting for their project at www.caltexfuelyourschoolph.com.

Davao City. It may well be the era of social media and a digital generation but school year 2016 saw the Philippines’ public Grade 11 students, their schoolmates, and teachers still using the traditional chalk, blackboard, and handmade diagrams on cartolina and Manila paper to teach and learn their lessons in class.

To address this gap, Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants, recently launched the cycle 2 of its multi-awarded Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS) Program to help provide thousands of public senior high school students and hundreds of teachers in Davao City with much needed materials and equipment for learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects.

“Through the help of motorists from June 1 to 30, we will donate P1 for every purchase of 1 liter of fuel or Delo Sports engine oil in all participating Caltex stations in Davao city,” says Raissa Bautista, CPI Policy, Government and Public Affairs manager. Caltex FYS aims to raise P3 million pesos in this one month back-to-school campaign as grant fund to provide for STEM equipment and materials to 30 of the most disadvantaged senior public schools in Davao City.

Facebook users who are not based in Davao City may still help the 30 schools by voting for their favorite STEM classroom projects. Each vote is an additional chance for the school to get their longed for learning tools, as reflected in the Caltex FYS leaderboard. Schools are funded first in the order of highest number of votes. You can vote via the Caltex Facebook Page or direct to www.caltexfuelyourschoolph.com.
