Green GSM Honored for Green Leadership at AREA 2025

Green GSM, Southeast Asia’s first all-electric ride-hailing platform developed by Vietnam’s Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), has been awarded the Green Leadership Award at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025. Held in Bangkok, the event recognized Green GSM’s trailblazing efforts in building a sustainable and scalable electric mobility ecosystem, both in Vietnam and across the region. AREA, organized by Enterprise Asia since 2011, is one of the continent’s most esteemed honors for corporate sustainability and social responsibility. This year’s theme, “A Necessary Shift to a Regenerative Economy,” underscores the urgent need for businesses to contribute meaningfully to environmental restoration.

Green GSM received recognition for its flexible, inclusive approach to green mobility. The company operates its own fleet of VinFast electric vehicles and offers the Xanh SM Platform, allowing private VinFast EV owners to join its ride-hailing service. It also partners with traditional taxi operators in international markets to support their transition to electric vehicles—though this feature is not yet available in the Philippines. These three components create a versatile model that can be adapted to diverse markets and consumer needs, accelerating the shift to clean transportation across Southeast Asia.

At the awards ceremony, GSM’s Director of Training and Culture Development, Ms. Phan Thi Hong Dung, emphasized the deeper philosophy driving the company: “Sustainability at Green GSM goes beyond strategy. It is deeply embedded in our everyday decisions, our culture, and how we grow.” She noted that each Green GSM ride doesn’t just lower emissions but fosters lasting change by encouraging people to live green, work green, and serve their communities responsibly. The recognition from AREA reflects both Green GSM’s operational excellence and its role in redefining mobility as a platform for meaningful social impact.

In just two years, Green GSM has expanded to Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and has completed over 300 million zero-emission trips, avoiding an estimated 211,000 tons of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to the carbon absorption of about 3,200 hectares of forest. In Vietnam, it commands nearly 40% of the electric taxi market, with major partners like G7 Taxi, Mai Linh, and Lado Taxi helping drive the industry’s transition. With operations now in four countries and a public launch in Metro Manila last June 10, Green GSM stands as the second-largest ride-hailing platform in Southeast Asia—and the only one fully powered by electric vehicles.
