JAECOO J7 SHS Earns Euro NCAP 5-Star Safety Rating, Gears Up for Philippine Launch

JAECOO Philippines proudly announces that its first hybrid SUV, the J7 SHS, has earned a prestigious five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). This global recognition marks the second major milestone for the J7 SHS this year, following its official range verification by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) last February.

The Euro NCAP assessment evaluated the J7 SHS across four key safety areas: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, protection for vulnerable road users (such as pedestrians), and safety assist systems. The SUV scored 81% in adult occupant protection, thanks to its stable performance in crash simulations and effective protection for critical body parts, such as knees and femurs, regardless of passenger size or seating position.

In the remaining three categories—child occupant safety, pedestrian protection, and safety assist features—the J7 SHS received solid 80% scores. Euro NCAP commended the vehicle’s intelligent safety systems, particularly the autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane support systems, and responsive speed assistance. These features worked effectively even in fast-moving or emergency situations.

The SUV’s high safety rating can be credited to its advanced technology. Features such as the DMS Driver Monitoring System, a 360° HD panoramic camera with an under-chassis view, and Bosch’s IPB intelligent braking system (which activates in just 0.1 seconds) ensure both driver and passenger safety. Additionally, six strategically placed airbags further enhance protection during collisions.

According to OMODA & JAECOO Philippines, the J7 SHS sets a new benchmark in safety for the hybrid SUV market. “This model redefines the standards for new energy vehicles. Our Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology is designed with safety as a core principle in product development. We aim to lead the industry with innovation that blends performance, intelligence, and ultimate protection,” the company shared in a statement.

Beyond safety, the J7 SHS is designed for long-distance, fuel-efficient travel. Powered by a 201 HP motor and a 5th-generation 1.5 TDGI DHT hybrid engine, it works in tandem with a fast-charging 18.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. This allows drivers to switch easily between Full Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Regeneration modes. During its AAP verification test, the J7 SHS traveled up to 1,488.8 kilometers on a single full tank and battery charge—well above its published extended range of 1,200+ km. It can also drive up to 106 km in pure electric mode, offering a clean, efficient option for long-haul drives.

The J7 SHS made its Philippine debut at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, drawing significant interest and early reservations. It will next be showcased at the OMODA and JAECOO Global Conference in Wuhu, China, on April 23.

The first batch of units is set to arrive in the Philippines by the end of May. Customers may pre-order the J7 SHS at official OMODA and JAECOO dealerships in Pasig, Sta. Rosa, and Cebu. Two variants will be offered—Premium and Comfort—both priced below PHP 1.7 million.
