Shell Pilipinas Corporation has brought the Shell Mekaniko League 2025 to a triumphant close, marking a milestone in the country’s automotive industry. For the first time, Shell united car and motorcycle experts under one national platform, creating Shell’s largest mechanic competition with over 2,000 participants from 26 provinces. From its kickoff in March to the Grand Finale at Le Pavillon in Pasay City, the League showcased the skill, passion, and determination of Filipino mekanikos across the country through 20 Shell Advance Masters regional runs for motorcycle mechanics and six Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions runs for car mechanics.
The Shell Mekaniko League was designed to not only celebrate technical excellence but also uplift the livelihoods of mechanics nationwide. At every stage of the competition, participants underwent Shell-led training and TESDA-certified modules to prepare for NC I and NC II certifications—strengthening their professional credentials and opening doors to new opportunities. Semi-finalists faced rigorous written exams, parts identification tests, and live repair challenges designed to mirror real-world scenarios. Winners of the semi-final round each received ₱50,000 and secured their place in the Grand Finale.

The Finals brought together the country’s most skilled car and motorcycle mechanics in an electrifying display of talent and expertise. In the end, Mark Anthony Calimag of Quezon City emerged as the 2025 National Champion for Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions, with R-Jay Alvarez and Manny Basong finishing second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Charlie Sandoval of Caloocan City stood tall as the 2025 National Champion for Shell Advance Masters, with Norman Cabal (2nd Place), Joefel Foronda (3rd Place), Joevanne Sayat (4th Place), and Allen Kenneth Rañon (5th Place) completing the motorcycle podium.

Each champion took home ₱200,000 in prize money and an all-expenses-paid trip to Malaysia to witness MotoGP. Joining them on this unforgettable experience are the Top 5 car mechanics and Top 3 motorcycle mechanics, underscoring Shell’s mission to provide Filipino mekanikos opportunities to learn and be inspired on a global stage. This year’s competition represents significant growth for the Mekaniko League, which in 2024 began with only five regional runs but has now evolved into a nationwide celebration of skill, grit, and craftsmanship.
“The Mekaniko League is one of Shell Pilipinas’ key programs that highlights the skills and dedication of Filipino mechanics,” said Jackie Famorca, Vice President and General Manager for Lubricants at Shell Pilipinas Corporation. “Through our partnership with TESDA, we are equipping them with the right training and tools to help them adapt to the ever-evolving auto industry.” TESDA Competency Assessor for Small Engine Servicing NC2, Brian Landicho, added, “Programs like the Mekaniko League promote the growth of the auto industry in the country, and TESDA fully supports initiatives that uplift and train Filipino talent.”
Beyond the competition, the Shell Mekaniko League aligns with Shell’s broader initiatives to empower mechanics through training, certification, and community recognition. By supporting mekanikos who trust and recommend Shell Helix and Shell Advance products, Shell ensures that customers enjoy expert vehicle maintenance and top-quality engine protection.
