Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast made a strong impression at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) with the official launch of its new VF 6 subcompact SUV. Alongside the unveiling, the company rolled out a bold three-pronged strategy to address major barriers to EV ownership: charging, resale value, and financing—further reinforcing its commitment to making electric mobility more accessible to Filipinos.
The VF 6 joined VinFast’s growing local lineup, which included the VF 3, VF 5, VF 7, and VF 9. Priced competitively at PHP 1.419 million for the Eco trim and PHP 1.610 million for the Plus trim, the VF 6 featured a seven-year or 160,000 km warranty, a standout in its segment. The subcompact SUV caught the attention of public figures such as basketball player Prince Rivero, who praised its acceleration and practicality as a starter family vehicle after taking it for a test drive.
Visitors were equally impressed by the vehicle’s range and affordability. Flight attendant Aila Panganiban pointed out that both the VF 6 and VF 7 offered up to nearly 500 km per charge (based on NEDC standards), while other guests recognized VinFast’s strong presence in Vietnam, where it had recently become the top-selling automotive brand in 2024. For many Manila-based drivers, the VF 6’s compact size and electric powertrain made it an ideal match for congested urban streets.
To address common concerns around EV ownership, VinFast introduced three new initiatives. First, it offered free charging at VinFast stations until 2027 through a partnership with V-GREEN, which planned to build 15,000 charging ports nationwide. Second, a buyback program was launched, guaranteeing up to 90% of the vehicle’s original price, depending on how long it was owned. Third, the company partnered with banks like BDO and EastWest to offer flexible financing packages, making EV ownership more financially attainable.
VinFast also accelerated its local expansion with over 60 showrooms planned across the Philippines and six distributor partnerships already secured. By offering competitive pricing, strong after-sales support, and a nationwide presence, VinFast positioned itself as more than just a new EV player—it became a serious contender aiming to reshape the country’s electric vehicle landscape.
