foodpanda Logistics Delivers P2.5M Aid to Riders Affected by Habagat, Supports LGU Responders

foodpanda Logistics has extended over P2.5 million in aid to more than 5,000 partner riders affected by the recent enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) and successive tropical cyclones under its Panda Pag-asa Program. The relief effort covers riders from hard-hit areas in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, and other provinces, with plans to expand support to Northern Luzon. Ron Sanders, Rider Experience Lead of foodpanda Logistics, emphasized the importance of helping communities during calamities, embodying the spirit of Bayanihan.

The heavy rains caused by the habagat and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong led to widespread flooding, displacing families and leaving roads impassable. This greatly affected delivery riders who depend on road access for their livelihood. Carlo Lawrence Navarra, a delivery partner from Cavite, shared how some of their homes were flooded, while others were unable to work due to submerged roads. He expressed gratitude for foodpanda’s flexible working hours and financial assistance, which helped during days when he couldn’t operate safely.

To ensure safety during extreme weather, foodpanda Logistics preemptively closed high-risk delivery zones. Sanders stressed that rider safety is always their top priority and thanked customers for their patience amid delays. He also highlighted the importance of customer tips, which go directly to the riders and significantly boost their income during challenging times.

Beyond helping its riders, foodpanda also provided support to local government responders, particularly the Quezon City DRRMO. Over 250 meals were distributed to rescue personnel, volunteers, and operations staff over five days. Lew Lopez, public affairs director at foodpanda, lauded the bravery of these responders and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting those who aid others in times of crisis.
