Mober Bolsters Philippines’ ASEAN Commercial EV Leadership at 2nd World EV Day Forum

Mober, a frontrunner in green logistics services in the country, reinforced the Philippines’ drive for commercial EV leadership in Southeast Asia when it hosted the 2nd World Electric Vehicle (EV) Day Forum Philippines at the EDSA Shangri-La Manila. With the theme “Powering Up the Philippines to ASEAN Leadership Through Commercial EV,” the forum gathered government leaders and industry experts to discuss opportunities that could position the Philippines as a regional leader in sustainable logistics and mobility.

Mober Founder and CEO Dennis Ng emphasized the company’s role in shaping the EV ecosystem through innovation, infrastructure, and workforce development. “From lady drivers to autonomous EVs, from battery swapping to renewable hubs, Mober is not just adapting to the future. We are building it,” Ng said. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, principal author of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), also expressed his support in a video message, reaffirming his commitment to strengthen policies that foster EV industry growth in the Philippines.

The forum featured interactive and thought-provoking discussions, including the session “Myth Busters with the EV Guy,” where Ng and Liveable Cities Philippines Chairman Bill Luz addressed common misconceptions about commercial EVs. Concerns such as battery safety, charging infrastructure, range anxiety, and performance during flooding were clarified, underscoring the growing readiness of EVs for Philippine conditions.

Two high-level panel discussions anchored the event. The first panel, “Building the Commercial EV Ecosystem,” tackled renewable energy, supportive government policies, and workforce development, with representatives from DOE, TESDA, DTI, Berde Renewables, Sarona Asset Management, and Mober. The second panel, “Building Resilient and Responsible Supply Chains,” brought together business leaders from IKEA Philippines, Ajinomoto, Monde Nissin, and Mober, who highlighted how integrating EV logistics is now a business imperative to meet global sustainability standards while staying cost-competitive.

“This year’s forum showed that transitioning to electric mobility is not just about putting EVs on the road, but about building an ecosystem that ensures their success,” Ng added. “By bringing together the most influential enablers, we’ve laid the foundation for stronger collaboration and a clear roadmap to position the Philippines as a key ASEAN commercial EV player.” The annual forum, inaugurated by Mober in 2024, continues to serve as a platform to drive green logistics and was held in partnership with major media outlets.
