Suzuki Philippines recently unveiled the much-anticipated Suzuki Fronx at a launch event held last September 12, 2025, at The Lakehall at Nena’s Sanctuary in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event brought together media partners and bank representatives, giving them an exclusive look at Suzuki’s latest SUV offering. Leading the presentation was Takashi Yokoyama, Chief Engineer for Automobile Line B&C Segment Division, Product Planning at Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, who shared how the Fronx was created—not just as a feat of engineering, but as a vision born from passion, inspiration, and the pursuit of new value in a competitive market.

According to Yokoyama, the Fronx was designed from the very beginning to be a compact and easy-to-drive SUV that would delight both drivers and their families while standing out in busy urban streets. In today’s crowded SUV market, Suzuki aimed to offer something fresh—something that captures the perfect balance of strength, beauty, and individuality.

The inspiration behind the Fronx came from an unexpected moment with a customer. When asked what they considered beautiful, the customer described something that blends strength, power, and style—and pointed to a picture of a galloping thoroughbred horse. “Strong, graceful, and beautiful—that was exactly the image we wanted to achieve,” Yokoyama recalled. This vision became the guiding force behind the Fronx’s design, giving birth to its bold and elegant coupe-SUV shape.

Design development was carried out simultaneously in Japan and India, with teams working under three themes: “Sports,” “Crossover,” and “Coupe.” Suzuki ultimately chose a daring and modern design that combines urban sophistication with rugged strength. The result is a coupe-SUV with sharp headlamps, bold fenders, a sloping rear door, and a sporty stance that reflects agility and power. Inside, the Fronx offers a premium cabin designed with space, comfort, and quality materials—perfect not just for drivers but for the entire family to enjoy.

Family comfort played a major role in development, with Suzuki fine-tuning the Fronx’s cabin for quietness, especially in the frequency range of human speech, allowing conversations to flow naturally. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with mild hybrid technology, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission for a direct, engaging drive. With advanced safety features like Dual Sensor Brake Support II, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist, the Fronx offers both excitement and peace of mind on the road.

Even the name “Fronx” symbolizes Suzuki’s bold step forward, derived from “Frontier” to represent new possibilities and “X” to represent a crossover. As Yokoyama proudly shared, “The Fronx was born with strength and beauty as its theme. It is not only a stylish coupe SUV but also a car designed to bring smiles to everyone who rides in it.” From the image of a galloping horse to the joy of a comfortable family ride, the Suzuki Fronx is more than just a car—it is a statement of strength, style, and innovation.
