MOVE IT Sets New Benchmark with Driver-Led, Tech-Reinforced Safety Commitment

Motorcycle taxi platform MOVE IT is raising industry standards with the launch of its Driver-Led, Tech-Reinforced Safety Commitment, a comprehensive program combining rigorous rider training with advanced safety technologies at scale. Reporting a 99.999% incident-free completion rate across thousands of daily rides, the company says its focus is now on the remaining ~0.001% of trips. “Near-perfect isn’t the finish line,” said MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto. “Leadership in safety means raising the bar every day—professional riders, real-time protection, and transparent accountability on every single trip.”

MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto emphasized the platform’s uncompromising focus on driver quality, highlighting its rigorous onboarding and training standards

At the recent MOVE IT Moto-Taxi Road Safety Dialogue, 31 rider-partner communities signed the Katuwang sa Kaligtasan sa Kalsada, a pledge reinforcing a culture of safety across the sector. Anchoring this commitment is MOVE IT’s Pasado Bago Pasada framework, which professionalizes riders through rigorous onboarding, continuous upskilling, and mandatory bi-annual retraining. Jacinto emphasized the platform’s uncompromising standards, saying MOVE IT’s riders are trained not just for skills, but for judgment, conduct, and resilience in real-world situations.

Highlights of the Pasado Bago Pasada Framework

In collaboration with Ateneo’s Bulatao Center for Psychological Services, MOVE IT also developed a Behavioral Assessment Tool, the first of its kind in the industry. Unlike conventional technical tests, this tool evaluates decision-making, stress management, and reactions under pressure, further ensuring that safety is grounded in both ability and behavior.

MOVE IT also leverages technology to enhance safety in real time. Since its 2023 relaunch, the platform introduced industry-first tools like live location sharing, in-app SOS, verification selfies, and AI trip monitoring. More innovations have since been added, including Overspeeding AlertsFatigue Nudges, and AudioProtect—a trip audio recording feature launching in Q4 2025 to provide fairness and context in dispute resolution. Together, these innovations aim to prevent accidents, safeguard passengers and riders during trips, and ensure transparent accountability afterward.

Beyond prevention, MOVE IT ensures fair accountability and rapid response. Reports filed in-app trigger swift investigations, with preventive suspension applied to high-risk cases for both riders and passengers. An Emergency Response Unit of volunteer riders provides first aid and coordinates with hospitals within 30 minutes, while all trips are insured through partners such as AIG and Cocolife. The Coalition for Filipino Commuters praised MOVE IT’s initiatives as “inspiring,” while stressing the importance of government standardization through the official legalization of motorcycle taxis. Jacinto closed: “Safety is not a milestone but a daily mission. We will continue to raise the standards until every commuter embraces motorcycle taxis as a truly reliable and viable transport option for our nation.”
