MDPPA strengthens fight against counterfeit motorcycle parts, unveils 2025 sales outlook and 2026 forecast

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) reinforced its commitment to consumer protection and industry growth with two key events held on November 4, 2025. The first was a Product and Branding Seminar at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in Taguig City, aimed at equipping the National Coalition for Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR) enforcers—comprising representatives from the NBI, PNP, BOC, and DTI—as well as MDPPA member-brand employees and stakeholders with essential knowledge to identify and combat counterfeit motorcycle parts.

With the rise of fake motorcycle components, particularly in online marketplaces, the seminar highlighted the dangers of counterfeit parts to both rider safety and vehicle performance. “Being able to tell what’s genuine and what’s counterfeit is not just about brand protection—it’s about ensuring every Filipino rider gets home safe,” said Erwin Estrada, MDPPA Vice President, underscoring the event’s alignment with the organization’s Tropang MAALAM safety advocacy.

MDPPA President Alex Cumpas presents the association’s Q4 sales outlook and 2026 forecast.

Later that day, MDPPA presented its 2025 Q4 sales outlook and 2026 forecast during a press conference attended by media and industry representatives. From January to September 2025, MDPPA recorded 1,398,314 motorcycle units sold nationwide and expects year-end figures to reach 1,793,219 units, a 6.7% increase from 2024. Looking ahead, the association projects a 4% growth in 2026, bringing expected sales to over 1.85 million units. “Motorcycles remain the most practical choice for Filipinos—affordable, fuel-efficient, and ideal for daily mobility,” said Alex Cumpas, MDPPA President.

The same event also marked the official launch of MDPPA’s “No to Counterfeit” Campaign, a nationwide movement advocating for genuine motorcycle parts, public safety, and responsible purchasing. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeit products that compromise both rider safety and brand integrity.

“This campaign is for every rider who deserves peace of mind,” Cumpas added. “Counterfeit parts don’t just damage vehicles—they endanger lives. Through this initiative, we aim to create a safer, more transparent motorcycle industry for all.”
