BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has strengthened its commitment to sustainable transportation with the deployment of 20 BYD Sealion 5 DM-i units to Highland Transport Service Cooperative (HTSC) in Northern Luzon. Implemented in partnership with dealer SEAelectric, the initiative marks the launch of the country’s first BYD Sealion 5 DM-i taxi fleet and represents a major milestone in the modernization of public transportation in the La Trinidad and Cordillera region.
Designed to deliver electric-first performance and efficiency, the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is powered by BYD’s advanced Super DM-i technology, offering extended driving range and optimized fuel consumption. Its capabilities make it well-suited for the varied terrain of Benguet and neighboring provinces, providing transport operators with a reliable and cost-effective mobility solution while enhancing passenger comfort through quieter and smoother rides.

The deployment is expected to help reduce operating costs for drivers and support HTSC’s ongoing re-fleeting program aimed at improving service quality, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. As transport operators continue to seek practical alternatives amid rising fuel costs and evolving mobility demands, the Sealion 5 DM-i offers a compelling solution that balances performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
“At BYD Cars Philippines, we are focused on advancing clean energy solutions and supporting the transition toward more responsible and greener transportation,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “The deployment of the first BYD Sealion 5 DM-i taxi fleet in the La Trinidad and Cordillera region highlights how it delivers an innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solution that performs well beyond city roads. This initiative underscores our commitment to making smarter, more accessible, and sustainable mobility a reality for local transport operators and communities across the country.”
