BYD Cars Philippines Expands Sedan Lineup with New Seal 5 DM-i, Bringing Advanced Plug-in Hybrid Technology to More Filipinos

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — BYD Cars Philippines has strengthened its electrified vehicle lineup with the launch of the new BYD Seal 5 DM-i, now available in Essential and Dynamic variants. Building on the success of the Seal 5 introduced in 2024, the refreshed sedan brings BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology to a wider range of Filipino motorists, offering an ideal mobility solution for first-time car buyers, professionals, families, businesses, and fleet operators seeking greater efficiency without compromising everyday practicality.

Powered by BYD’s latest Super DM-i hybrid system, the new Seal 5 DM-i delivers exceptional efficiency and long-distance capability. During an efficiency run conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the sedan achieved an impressive combined driving range of up to 2,181 kilometers. The Essential variant provides up to 55 kilometers of pure electric driving range through its 7.42-kWh Blade Battery, while the Dynamic variant extends electric-only range to 115 kilometers using a larger 18.3-kWh Blade Battery, allowing many daily commutes to be completed using electricity alone before seamlessly transitioning to hybrid operation.

Inside, the Seal 5 DM-i combines comfort, technology, and practicality with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear air vents, multiple USB charging ports, and a spacious 522-liter trunk that expands to 1,295 liters with the rear seats folded. Built around BYD’s renowned Blade Battery, the sedan also comes equipped with an extensive suite of safety features including Cruise Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Hold Control, Automatic Vehicle Hold, rear parking sensors, and multiple airbags, giving drivers added confidence on every journey.

To celebrate its arrival, the new Seal 5 DM-i will be available at special introductory prices from July 28 to August 31, 2026, before official retail pricing takes effect on September 1, 2026. Every purchase includes an 8-year drive unit warranty, 8-year or 160,000-km Blade Battery warranty, and 6-year or 160,000-km bumper-to-bumper warranty.
