The Philippine motorcycle industry returned to growth in the third quarter of 2026, with members of the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) recording 524,860 units sold from July to September, an 8.1% increase from the 485,690 units sold during the same period in 2025. The strong quarterly performance brought the industry’s cumulative sales for January to September to 1,464,388 units, up 5.1% from 1,392,744 units recorded during the same nine-month period last year.
September emerged as the strongest sales month from January to September 2026, with consecutive gains in August and September helping the industry recover from the slower second quarter. Motorcycle sales grew by 11.6% in Q1 before declining by 4.2% in Q2, while the 8.1% expansion in Q3 signals renewed momentum heading into the final quarter. Automatic motorcycles remained the primary growth driver, accounting for approximately 73.6% of total units sold by MDPPA members during the quarter.
MDPPA President Erwin Estrada welcomed the industry’s recovery, citing the stronger performance in August and September as an encouraging sign for the market. “The rebound in the third quarter is an encouraging sign for the industry, especially with the stronger performance we saw in August and September. This renewed momentum gives us confidence as we enter the final quarter, and we remain optimistic that the industry is on track to reach its sales targets by the end of 2026,” he said.
