MOVE IT Pioneers Pag-IBIG Subsidy Program for Moto-Taxi Riders

MOVE IT has become the first motorcycle taxi platform in the Philippines to subsidize Pag-IBIG contributions for top-performing rider-partners, marking a significant move toward strengthening social protection for platform workers. The initiative, now active in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, rewards riders with exceptional service, safety, and productivity by covering their Pag-IBIG Monthly Savings. This subsidy grants riders access to a range of financial services such as affordable housing loans, MP2 savings, and short-term assistance, providing long-term financial security beyond daily earnings.

To qualify, riders must link their Pag-IBIG Membership ID to their MOVE IT profile and apply through their app, which verifies eligibility based on performance metrics. MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto emphasized that riders are seeking more than just income—they want the freedom and tools to build a secure future. He added that MOVE IT is committed to providing those tools by partnering with government agencies and making social protection programs more accessible to riders who want to invest in their long-term well-being.

Alongside this effort, MOVE IT and Grab have partnered with government agencies to open the Asenso Center in Marikina City, a hub where platform drivers can receive training and apply for services from Pag-IBIG, SSS, and PhilHealth. With the center and initiatives like “Social Protection 101” courses, these platforms are empowering independent workers with knowledge and opportunities for financial planning. Grab first introduced a Pag-IBIG subsidy for its own top performers earlier in 2025, reinforcing the collective push to expand welfare access across the gig economy.
