BYD Strengthens Green Logistics with Over 1,500 NEVs Delivered to the Philippines

BYD’s dedicated roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel made its maiden international port call in the Philippines, delivering more than 1,500 brand-new New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to the country. The shipment, received by BYD Cars Philippines under ACMobility, marks a major milestone in the company’s vertically integrated, sustainable logistics strategy and supports the nation’s transition to electric mobility. Half of the vessel’s crew are Filipino seafarers, underscoring BYD’s commitment to inclusive innovation and the integration of local talent into its global operations.

This delivery also positions the Philippines as a strategic gateway in BYD’s growing global logistics network. As the first stop for the brand’s specialized NEV carrier, the country plays a vital role in enabling efficient, low-emission transport across the Asia-Pacific region. “This milestone is a testament to the Philippines’ readiness for large-scale EV adoption,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Being the first stop on this vessel’s global journey highlights our country’s role in BYD’s sustainable growth and our shared vision of clean, future-ready mobility.”

The vessel’s arrival marks the beginning of BYD’s global rollout of vertically integrated, low-emission logistics supported by advanced RoRo ships purpose-built for NEV transport. These ships will enable more frequent deliveries, faster spare parts availability, and improved access to BYD’s electric mobility solutions for Filipino consumers. “Having the journey in Batangas highlights how advanced logistics and innovation come together to drive our sustainable future,” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.

Measuring 199.9 meters long and 38 meters wide, the vessel can carry up to 7,000 NEVs at a time and features 16 adjustable hydraulic decks, intelligent loading systems, and temperature sensors to safeguard EVs, hybrids, and electric buses. It runs on a dual-fuel propulsion system using liquefied natural gas (LNG), which cuts emissions by more than 30% compared to conventional marine fuel, aligning with BYD’s mission to “Cool the Earth by 1°C.” Named after BYD’s Zhengzhou manufacturing hub, the ship is part of a planned fleet of eight specialized NEV carriers that will support the brand’s rapidly expanding export operations, which saw overseas sales grow 159.5% year-on-year.
