Beat the gas crunch: Top 5 fuel efficient commuter bikes in the market today

With travel restrictions now lifted, we can now give in to wanderlust and go explore the post COVID (hopefully) Philippine archipelago. Yet, land travel remains “restrictive” as fuel prices has recently gone up beyond imagining.

These days, big performance machines had somewhat lost their luster as thrifty commuter bikes takes center stage. So, we made a short list of small displacement motorcycles in the local market that are known to sip fuel pinky finger extended. Note that all of them are able to go more that 60 kilometers to a liter of gas. You’re welcome.

1. Yamaha Sight – 129 kilometers per liter, 114 cc, 4-speed auto clutch

2. Kawasaki Bajaj CT100 – 93 kilometers per liter, 99.72 cc, 4-speed manual transmission

3. TVS XL100 Premium – 80 kilometers per liter, 99.7 cc, single-speed automatic transmission

4. Honda BeAT – 63.7 kilometers per liter, 108 cc, continuously variable transmission (CVT)

5. Suzuki Raider J Crossover – 63.5 kilometers per liter, 113 cc, 4-speed auto clutch

Just keep in mind that the mileage figures were achieved under controlled setting and actual fuel efficiency relies on multiple factors like riding conditions, weight of the rider, riding habits, etc. Nevertheless, the numbers presented are good indication of the potential of the bikes listed.
