Debunking False Economy – 3 Main Benefits of Using Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

Anyone who has multiple vehicles in his garage knows that the task of car maintenance is no small feat. Not only does it take a fair amount of commitment, you must be willing to fork out good amount of dough as well. There are times, however, that my inner Scrooge would get the better of me. I would try to economize by using the more affordable mineral engine oil for my 2010 Mitsubishi Adventure but I soon realized that going for the cheap stuff could cost me more money in the long run. Here are some reasons why it is more cost-effective to use fully synthetic oil in your car’s engine.

1. Longer oil-change interval The usual oil change interval for most cars on regular mineral engine oil is every 5,000 kilometers. Using fully synthetic oil will more or less double the kilometers between intervals so you automatically save on service fees.
2. Superior engine wear protection – Fully synthetic oils are specially formulated to help make your engine more resistant to wear through regular use. Generally speaking, maintenance cost is so much cheaper than repair expenses.
3. Better fuel economy There is less strain on your engine when its moving parts are well lubricated. Fully synthetic oils are known to give consistent lubrication across various running temperature ranges. Not only does it improve over-all engine performance, it also helps your vehicle become more fuel efficient.

Recently, I have been using Caltex Delo Sports Advanced SAE 5W-40 and the benefits were quite noticeable as soon as I turned on the ignition. Engine noise and vibration is now significantly less and I reaching higher speeds at lower RPMs. I don’t plan on winning any race on my old AUV but I have to say that acceleration has significantly improved as well.

Formulated with ISOSYN Advanced Technology, the Delo Sports Advanced SAE 5W-40 is a super-premium quality “low SAPS” (sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur) synthetic diesel engine oil that provides ultimate protection for sport utility and sport activity recreational vehicles, high–performance pickups trucks and 4×4 type vehicles, including those with the latest low emission diesel engines. These vehicles need large amounts of power to conquer rough terrain while carrying heavy loads. Delo ensures owners that their engine is protected while continuously producing high torque and power at low speeds.
