Honda Philippines Motorsports 2023: A Year of Thrilling Achievements

In 2023, Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the country’s leading motorcycle manufacturer, continued its strong presence in motorsports, both domestically and internationally. Here’s a recap of the highlights from the year:

On-Road International Racing: In Moto2, Idemitsu Team Honda Asia’s Somkiat Chantra secured 6th place overall, while Ai Ogura finished 9th. Honda Team Asia competed in Moto3, with Taiyo Furusato ranking 16th and Mario Suryo Aji at 31st.

Honda sponsored a team for the ARRC (Asia Road Racing Championship) ASB 1000 Category. Team HADR (Honda Asia Dream Racing with Showa) saw Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi and Andi Farid Izdihar securing 2nd and 3rd place overall, respectively. The team also participated in the Suzuka 8 Hours Challenge, finishing 7th.

Off-Road International Racing: Jett and Hunter Lawrence, riding for Team Honda HRC, dominated the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Jett claimed the 450 Champion title, while Hunter secured the 250 Champion title.

On-Road Domestic Racing: Honda’s “Road to Champion” campaign aimed at nurturing Filipino riders saw successes in events like the MOTOIR Championship, where Jakob Sablaya excelled, winning first place in multiple categories.

Alfonsi Daquigan showcased his talent by securing Pole Position in the 2023 IRGP, while Jakob Sablaya also performed admirably in various categories.

Off-Road Domestic Racing: HPI supported its JMS – MOS (Man of Steel) Honda Ride Red Racing Team in the 2023 MotorAce Motocross series. Janelle Saulog became the Overall Champion in the Ladies Category, while Jovie Saulog and others demonstrated remarkable performances.

Looking Ahead to 2024: Honda Philippines, Inc. is committed to furthering its support for motorsports development. Riders like Alfonsi Daquigan and Jakob Sablaya continue to be backed by HPI, with Daquigan qualifying for the 2024 Asia Talent Cup and Sablaya riding for SDG Team HARC-PRO Honda PH in the 2024 ARRC, AP250 Category.

HPI will persist in strengthening both on-road and off-road motorsports in the Philippines, providing opportunities for aspiring Filipino riders.
