TMA Strengthens Road Safety Advocacy Through Training and Industry Collaboration During National Road Safety Month

The Truck Manufacturers Association, Inc. reinforced its commitment to safer and more responsible transport operations by actively supporting the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) National Road Safety Campaign through two key initiatives held during National Road Safety Month: a transport cooperative training program and participation in the National Road Safety Summit.

As part of its advocacy, TMA emphasized that road safety goes beyond regulations and infrastructure, highlighting the importance of education, vehicle readiness, industry collaboration, and responsible transport practices. The association, which represents leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and distributors in the country, continues to work closely with government and industry partners to strengthen a culture of safety across the transport ecosystem.

In collaboration with the Department of Transportation, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, TMA conducted the National Road Safety Training last May 21, 2026 in Antipolo, Rizal for members, drivers, operators, and mechanics of Lungsod Silangan Transport Service & Multi-Purpose Cooperative. The program focused on Modern PUV standards, vehicle safety systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, pre-drive inspections, and eco-driving techniques to enhance daily transport operations.

TMA President Robert Carlos stressed that road safety requires shared responsibility among all stakeholders, noting that proper training helps improve both vehicle readiness and driver discipline. LTFRB Executive Director Sherwin Vizcondealso highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and industry in bringing road safety education directly to transport operators and drivers, strengthening awareness at the grassroots level.

Following the training, TMA further demonstrated its commitment by participating in the National Road Safety Summit on May 26, the culminating event of the DOTr-led campaign. The summit gathered government agencies, transport groups, automotive associations, and safety advocates to advance collective action for safer mobility nationwide. TMA showcased its initiatives, including its training programs, and highlighted the role of continuous driver education, proper vehicle maintenance, and industry-government cooperation in improving transport safety.

Through its participation in both the training program and the summit, TMA reaffirmed its dedication to responsible mobility and long-term road safety development. The association emphasized its continued commitment to working with government and industry partners to strengthen transport standards, enhance safety awareness, and contribute to safer roads for Filipino communities.
