Yamaha Unveils “Feel Life” Theme at Japan Mobility Show 2023

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) made a vibrant appearance at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, hosted by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. The event took place at the Tokyo Big Sight from October 25 to November 5 (Press days: Oct. 25–26; General public days: Oct. 28–Nov. 5). Positioned in the East Hall 5, the Yamaha booth resonated with the theme “Feel Life.”

The showcase featured an array of Yamaha’s offerings, including motorcycles, electric commuter vehicles, electrically power-assisted bicycles, and more, spotlighting six world premiere models. Collaborating with Yamaha Corporation, which shares the Yamaha brand, the booth also highlighted audio technologies, products, and stage demonstrations, presenting the latest technologies from both entities.

MOTOROiD2

MOTOROiD2 is an experimental model exploring future human–machine interfaces. It aims to achieve a closer relationship between the rider and the machine, resonating harmoniously like partners. With refined Active Mass Center Control System (AMCES) and image recognition AI, MOTOROiD2 has a lifelike feel, featuring a new Leaf structure for a chassis specialized for complementary reactions.

TRICERA

TRICERA is a three-wheel open-top electric autocycle designed for “Exciting Urban Mobility.” Offering the joy of an open-top car and a Kando-filled driving experience with three-wheel steering, TRICERA explores the satisfaction and excitement derived from manual control in the age of automated driving.

ELOVE 

ELOVE, an electric scooter with Advanced Motorcycle Stabilization Assist System (AMSAS), enhances safety and enjoyment, particularly at slow speeds. ELOVE’s concept of “Game changing!” is demonstrated through a standard model and a version co-conceived with a high school student and a wheelchair tennis player.

E-FV 

E-FV, an electric minibike for family recreation, combines the TY-E electric trials bike’s power unit with Yamaha Corporation’s Active Sound Control technology. Delivering a quiet operation unique to EVs, it allows riders to enjoy exhaust notes from conventional vehicles, contributing to a delightful riding experience.

Y-00Z MTB 

Developed based on “Yamaha Motor Off-Road DNA,” this eMTB showcases technologies like a split drive unit arrangement and Electric Power Steering (EPS) system for excellent handling and stability in off-road riding.

Y-01W AWD 

An adventure eBike with two-wheel drive, the Y-01W AWD combines a center-mounted electric motor and a front hub motor. Coordinated electronic control, twin batteries, and wide tires provide exceptional off-road performance, pointing to the versatile riding possibilities for e-Bikes.

TMW 

TMW, Yamaha Motor’s first off-road adventure Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW), is designed for various surface conditions. With a hybrid system, electric hub motors drive the two front wheels, while the rear wheel is driven by the engine.

YXZ1000R

This recreational off-highway vehicle is equipped with a direct injection 100%* hydrogen-burning engine, emitting zero CO2. Yamaha Motor explores the potential of hydrogen engines, aiming to maintain the unique appeal of internal combustion engines while contributing to decarbonization efforts.

Mobile Robot Arm 

A collaborative robot with a 7-axis robotic arm and an autonomous cart, offering a human-like range of motion. It operates in spaces shared with people, avoiding obstacles, and is under development by Yamaha Corporation.

Real Sound Viewing 

A system preserving and reproducing artists’ performances as a “vacuum-packed live performance.” Combining sound digitizing and Yamaha’s TransAcoustic technology, it provides a highly realistic virtual live performance experience. On display with cooperation from Yamaha Corporation.

AFC is Yamaha Immersive Audio Solution, enabling users to create an ideal acoustic environment. AFC Enhance and AFC Image control reverberation and sound image localization for superior immersive listening experiences. On display with cooperation from Yamaha Corporation.

Charlie is a communication-oriented robot using VOCALOID and automatic song creation technologies. Responding in song, Charlie relaxes users and communicates in a heartwarming manner. On display with cooperation from Yamaha Corporation.

A wooden rocking horse doubling as a musical instrument, designed as a child’s first ridable toy. Displayed at Milan Design Week 2023, it represents Yamaha Corporation’s commitment to making life with musical instruments more enjoyable.

An acoustic guitar stand and classic guitar frame designed as household furniture by Yamaha Corporation. Dual-functionality allows Solo to be used as a high stool, and Classic as a bench. On display with cooperation from Yamaha Corporation.
