Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) Program

  • Ford Philippines Reinforces Family Safety Advocacy, Launches 11th Driving Skills For Life Program

Ford Philippines today held the Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program, a globally-recognized training program that educates drivers on smart, safe, and fuel-efficient driving.

Now on its 11th year in the Philippines, the DSFL is aiming to reach over 2,500 public ulitilty vehicle and private vehicle drivers all over the country this year, with more workshop sessions in select areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, including more hands-on driving sessions to bring to life the participants’ learnings after the workshops.

Ford is also set to tap its fleet customer base and enter into partnerships with transport network vehicle service (TVNS) companies to bring the DSFL program to more drivers and transform them into road safety advocates.

This year’s DSFL will also include new training modules on vehicle handling, driving in special conditions, anti-distracted driving, and fuel-efficient driving. The DSFL sessions will continue to be offered to participating drivers for free.

“The DSFL has definitely come a long way in helping promote road safety and safety driving in the Philippines, so we’re definitely inspired year after year to think of ways to improve the training program, share more relevant tips and techniques in safe driving and road safety, and extend the reach to more Filipino drivers,” shares EJ Francisco, AVP, Communications, Ford Philippines.

Since 2008, DSFL has trained over 22,000 Filipino drivers nationwide in partnership with Tuason Racing School, the program’s long-time trainer and facilitator. This year, the DSFL forms part of a region-wide road and family safety advocacy that Ford is leading to reinforce the importance of being safe on the road, especially for families going out on roadtrips.

Under the family safety program, Ford will showcase its best-in-class vehicles packed with smart and safe features that make for a worry-free driving experience, on top of its flagship road safety corporate social responsibility program, the DSFL. Ford will also lead engagements and partner with relevant stakeholders to reach out to families and parents to reiterate the dangers of distracted driving.

“We recognize how easy it is for drivers to get distracted while in traffic everyday, so our family safety advocacy is a fitting reminder to reinforce the importance of keeping one’s eyes on the road and hands on the wheel while driving. As the global leader in vehicle safety, our class-leading cars, SUVs, and trucks have in-car safety features and technologies that help families get home safely,” adds Francisco.
