Honda Philippines is making strides in reducing its carbon footprint with the launch of a New Solar Power Project

Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) is celebrating a big achievement in its effort to be more environmentally friendly. They’ve officially started using a new solar power system on the roof of their factory in Tanauan, Batangas. This project, done with Skye Renewables, is now up and running.

“This is a big step towards our goal of being carbon neutral by 2050,” said Sayaka Arai-Hattori, President of Honda Philippines, Inc. “We want to do more than just make and sell things. We want to make a positive impact on society. This project shows our commitment to taking care of the environment and trying to create a better future for our workers and customers.”

President; Mr. Toshifumi Yokoyama, Singapore Branch Shoseki International K.K Head; Mr. Atsushi Koyano, Idemitsu Lubricants Philippines Head of Sales.

To make this solar power project happen, HPI worked with Skye Renewables, who are experts in solar energy in Southeast Asia.

“Skye Renewables is happy to help Honda Philippines, Inc. on their journey to sustainability,” said Gary Espino, who leads Skye Renewables in the Philippines. “We installed the solar panels that turn sunlight into electricity. This clean energy will run HPI’s operations during the day, and if they need more power, they can switch to regular electricity. In some places, extra solar energy can even go back to the power grid.”

The solar power project has almost 2,000 solar panels, each making 540 watts of power. This means they can make about 35% of the energy HPI needs during the day using sunlight. That’s around 1,267 megawatt-hours of clean energy every year, which cuts down on using fossil fuels and helps the environment.

Not only is solar energy better for the environment, but it’s also cheaper for HPI. This project is part of their plan to be more sustainable and to reach their goal of being carbon neutral.

“We’re happy to help Honda Philippines on their sustainability journey,” added Espino. “This project shows that when companies work together, they can make a big difference. We hope it inspires other businesses to be more eco-friendly too.”

HPI’s solar power project shows how working together with renewable energy companies can make a real difference. It’s a great example for other businesses to follow, helping to make the planet healthier for future generations.
