What is The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR)

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) stands as the world’s largest motorcycling charity event, uniting riders globally for a noble cause. Embracing the aesthetics and values of a bygone era, DGR aims to debunk stereotypes surrounding motorcyclists, portraying them as esteemed members of society. This year marks the 11th year of partnership with global motorcycle brand Triumph Motorcycles and the 10th official year of DGR in Manila.

WHAT IS DGR’S CAUSE? (WHY ARE WE RIDING TOGETHER GLOBALLY ON MAY 19)?

DGR lends its support to the Movember Foundation, a global charity dedicated to addressing men’s health issues. Funds raised aid in prostate cancer research and men’s mental health programs worldwide. With over 90,000 riders in 900 cities across 100 countries expected to participate, DGR is poised to make a significant impact. Since 2016, AUD $40 million has been invested by Movember into prostate cancer research and men’s mental health initiatives, with the Philippines contributing over USD $32,000. This year’s goal is to raise at least USD $10,000.

WHAT IS THE STYLE GUIDE OF DGR AND WHY DOES IT HAVE A STYLE GUIDE?

DGR celebrates classic and vintage-styled motorcycles and their riders, embodying a dapper aesthetic. Inspired by the image of TV character Don Draper from Mad Men, DGR Founder Mark Hawwa envisioned a themed ride to foster community while supporting men’s health. The event encourages participants to dress in formal suits, tailored vests, and other vintage attire. Permissible motorcycles include cafe racers, choppers, classic cruisers, and more.
