YECVT SHIFT TO PERFORMANCE TAKES COMMAND IN CEBU

Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. (YMPH) continued its push for advanced motorcycle technology with the second leg of YECVT: Shift to Performance for the NMAX TECHMAX, bringing together 116 participants from partner dealerships and YClub communities in Cebu. Held at TOPS Cebu in Mt. Busay, the activity gathered members of the NMAX NEO Techmax Club and NMAX Club of the Philippines Cebu Chapter through Revzone DES Marketing Maxilom, Yamaha Motor Ace Gorordo, and Yamaha DES Strong Mandaue, highlighting both the capabilities of YECVT technology and the readiness of Yamaha 3S shops to provide specialized servicing.

A key part of the activity was the YECVT maintenance demonstration and Yamaha Part Electric Catalogue (YPEC) discussion, where Yamaha technical experts provided participants with a detailed walkthrough of YECVT maintenance and explained how authorized Yamaha 3S shops are equipped to service the technology using appropriate tools, mechanics, and procedures. The YPEC station also introduced participants to Yamaha’s parts catalog system, which helps identify part numbers and locate available Yamaha Genuine Parts. Participants likewise visited the My Yamaha Motor Rev PH app booth to learn more about membership benefits, perks, and rewards available to Yamaha owners.

The event then moved from classroom learning to an actual riding experience, with participants equipped with full-face helmets, protective gear, intercom systems, and identification jerseys before receiving route and safety briefings from the Yamaha Riding Academy. Guided through their intercoms, riders experienced the NMAX TECHMAX on actual roads while exploring the YECVT system, including its three-level downshift function and the transition between Touring and Sport modes. By using the Shift button, riders can initiate successive downshifts that adjust the CVT reduction ratio and engine rpm, providing stronger acceleration when needed while also helping enhance engine braking during downhill riding and other conditions. The number of available downshifts is determined by factors such as riding mode, throttle input, vehicle speed, and engine rpm.

More than a technology showcase, the YECVT: Shift to Performance Cebu leg provided riders with an opportunity to better understand how the system can support control and performance across different riding situations while reinforcing the capabilities of Yamaha’s dealer network. Following the successful Cebu activity, Yamaha Motor Philippines will continue the program with its third leg in Mindanao, bringing the YECVT experience and technical education closer to more riders and Yamaha communities across the country.
